Starting Reception

Welcome to the beginning of an exciting journey at St Gerard's Catholic Primary School. Starting Reception is a very special milestone, not only for children, but for families too. We are delighted to welcome you into our school community and look forward to working together to help your child thrive, grow in confidence, and develop a love of learning.

The Reception year lays the foundations for future success. Through play, exploration, creativity, and carefully planned learning experiences, children begin to build the essential skills they need academically, socially, and emotionally. Just as importantly, they learn how to form friendships, become independent, communicate confidently, and feel happy and secure in a school environment.

We understand that every child is unique and develops at their own pace. Our nurturing and supportive environment encourages children to feel safe, valued, and inspired to try new things. By building strong relationships between home and school, we can work together to give your child the very best start to their educational journey.
