Ofsted Inspection

Our school was last inspected by Ofsted in December 2016. We were very pleased that the overall inspection judgment was that St. Gerard’s continues to be a good school.

Some of the comments from the report included:

  • Leaders at all levels, including governors, constantly seek ways in which the school can improve.
  • The school’s values and ethos contribute significantly to pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
  • Staff and governors are committed to keeping pupils safe.
  • Children of all abilities have made good progress since September.
  • Teaching helps pupils to become independent, self-motivated learners. They behave exceptionally well in lessons.

Our last RE Inspection was in March 2018 when our RE provision was judged to be good with some outstanding elements.

The Diocesan team noted that:

  • The headteacher provides strong, visionary leadership and sets high standards and expectations for all members of the school community.
  • Catholic Life and Religious Education is firmly centred on the school mission and significantly shapes pupils morally and spiritually.
  • Pupils enjoy coming to school. They are happy, confident learners and are able to thrive in a secure, harmonious environment.
  • Pupil behaviour is exemplary.
