Ofsted Inspection

Our school was last inspected by Ofsted in March 2023. We were very pleased that St. Gerard’s continues to be judged a good school.

Some of the comments from the report included:

  • St Gerard’s is a happy and harmonious community. Pupils learn that everyone is equal and should be treated with respect.
  • Leaders and staff have high expectations of all pupils. They have developed a curriculum that enables pupils to achieve well in a broad range of subjects.
  • Pupils know that adults care about them.
  • Right from the early years, pupils follow the school’s well-established rules and routines diligently.
  • The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

RE Inspection

Our last RE Inspection was in March 2018 when our RE provision was judged to be good with some outstanding elements.

The Diocesan team noted that:

  • St. Gerard’s is welcoming and inclusive with a strong Catholic identity and outstanding Catholic ethos.
  • The headteacher provides strong, visionary leadership and sets high standards and expectations for all members of the school community.
  • Catholic Life and Religious Education is firmly centred on the school mission and significantly shapes pupils morally and spiritually.
  • Pupils enjoy coming to school. They are happy, confident learners and are able to thrive in a secure, harmonious environment.
  • Pupil behaviour is exemplary.
